We aim to improve community and international health through the creation of new knowledge, application and translation of science, and the training of advanced academic and pratice leaders.

We’re a new, University-wide Institute developed to stimulate research, teaching, and community engagement with the goal of improving population health. We're interdisciplinary, capitalizing on and integrating the University’s extensive existing public health work.

Bringing together and range disciplines and diverse partners to improve population health

Identifing and implementing solutions to the complex health issues facing society requires collaboration of many different disciplines and partners.  In 2008, Washington University launched the Institute for Public Health to complement the efforts of other public health innovators and bring the full resources of the University to bear to help generate meaningful change.

Our goal is to facilitate ground-breaking research, orchestrating thought leaders from a broad range of different disciplines to develop evidence-based solutions that positively impact public health in the St. Louis region and around the globe.

We are focused on translating research into policy and practice, closing the gap between when solutions are developed and when they generate measurable impact.  We will leverage our close relationships with traditional and non-traditional health care delivery partners to help ensure proven techniques are accepted in to practice quickly and effectively.
