Become an Institute Faculty Scholar

In the initial planning for the Institute, we estimated that approximately 70 faculty across the University have significant public health training, teaching, and/or funded research projects.  Today we have more than 150 faculty who are affiliated with the Institute through our Faculty Scholars program.

Scholars are invited to participate in special lectures and workgroups focused on approaches that will help achieve our vision and mission , including our six initiative areas.  Affiliation with the Institute will also provides faculty with the opportunity to meet and collaborate with others at Washington University who are working in the field of public health.

We appoint Institute Scholars on the basis of their demonstrated research and teaching interests in public health. Appointments carry an expectation of tangible public health research, interdisciplinary collaboration in research and teaching, and activite participation in the intellectual life of public health at Washington University.

We appoint Scholars to a three-year term.  During this time, all Scholars continue to hold their primary appointments within one of Washington University's professional schools, departments or divisions.
