Vivia V. McCutcheon, PhD, MSW

Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine

Dr. McCutcheon’s primary research interests are in the genetic and environmental influences on recovery from substance use disorders, particularly in women, and how recovery within a family or other social network might influence the risk for substance use and recovery in network members. She has conducted research with women with severe alcohol use disorders both in and outside of treatment settings. She is also interested in identifying brain mechanisms of recovery from alcohol use disorders, and whether they correlate with environmental measures, including social networks.
