Aging, Place and Care: The Lives and Hopes of Himalayan Elders in an Age of Migration

This seminar is part of the monthly Issues in Aging series that highlights current research and perspectives on aging-relevant issues from experts in medicine, social work, psychology, law and more.

This event will be a hybrid event with the option to attend in person on the Washington University Medical Campus or virtually via Zoom. Registration is required.

We also ask that those attending in person register due to limited capacity. A light lunch will be provided.

Directions & parking

This event will take place in room 234 on the second floor of the Danforth University Center (DUC), located on Washington University’s Danforth campus at the intersection of Forsyth Blvd. and Wallace Dr.

Visitor parking is available in the DUC garage, situated below the Danforth University Center. Turn onto Wallace Drive to enter the garage underground. Parking validation will be provided for non-WashU employees.

About the Speaker

Geoff Childs, PhD
Professor of Sociocultural Anthropology
Department of Anthropology
Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis

Professor Childs’ research occupies the interdisciplinary space between anthropology and demography. He regularly visits the Tibetan enclaves in northern Gorkha District, Nepal, to study local history, family management strategies, demographic trends, and a host of other topics.
