July 16, 2018
2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Eric P. Newman Education Ctr., Rm A, Medical Campus

The Institute for Informatics presents a Special Speaker Seminar with Doug Fridsma, MD, PhD, FACP, FACMI, President and CEO of AMIA- Informatics Professionals.

There has been a dramatic increase in the use of electronic health records and the availability of electronic health data for healthcare delivery and research. The rapid adoption of electronic health records has created both opportunities and challenges for clinicians and researchers. With these changes, what have we learned? And what can we anticipate will be future challenges? This presentation will explore lessons learned from meaningful use that are applicable for any organization anticipating a more interoperable and digital healthcare system, and then describe how other social factors will likely influence the next generation of information technology, and what health care professionals will need to do to prepare for that future.
