Pitch Partners: Community-Academic Partnerships Aimed at Diabetes Prevention

November 08, 2018
4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Taylor Avenue Building, Doll & Hill, Medical Campus

The Center for Community Health Partnership and Research at the Institute for Public Health invites you to Pitch Partners. At this event, community members, organizations, and faculty have the opportunity to pitch diabetes-related project ideas, in order to identify potential partners and to receive critical feedback.

Six proposed ideas will be selected for 5-minutes pitch style presentations. The teams can use a variety of visual media, including but not limited to slides and videos. The pitches will be followed by 5 to 10 minutes of Q&A from a panel with a mix of expertise and audience members. The last 30 minutes of the event is dedicated to networking to share insights on the project ideas.

The focus of this Pitch Partner’s meeting will be Community-Academic Partnerships Aimed at Diabetes Prevention. Communication and collaboration between academic and community partners can facilitate more effective translation of science into practice. A complex and challenging illness such as diabetes calls for innovative approaches where citizens, community organizations, health care organizations, and universities work together. Community-academic partnerships can ensure successful assessment and treatment of patients.

To submit a project idea: please email a one page Abstract or Specific Aims to: prijos@wustl.edu by October 22. Six project ideas will be selected by October 25.

NOTE: Participating in Pitch Partners does not guarantee a partnership and/or funding for a project.

This is a free event. Dinner will be served. Registration required.
