Institute Supports Africa Initiative Awards for New Pilot Grants

The Africa Initiative has awarded grant funding to eight teams working on new research projects in Africa. Research teams include the following Institute for Public Health Faculty Scholars:

Dennis Barbour, associate professor at McKelvey School of Engineering

Cindy Brantmeier, professor in the School of Arts & Sciences

Philip Budge, assistant professor in the School of Medicine

Christine Ekenga, assistant professor at the Brown School

Penina Acayo Laker, assistant professor at the Sam Fox School

Brad Racette, the Robert Allan Finke Professor and executive vice  chairman of Neurology at the School of Medicine

Through support from the Institute for Public Health and the McDonnell International Scholars Academy, the number of available awards was boosted from three to eight.
