Colditz appointed chair of National Academies of Sciences workshop

Graham Colditz, MD, PhD, the Niess-Gain Professor of Surgery, deputy director of the Institute for Public Health and associate director of prevention and control at Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine, was named chair for an upcoming workshop by the National Academies of Sciences. The workshop, “Improving Health Research on Small Populations,” will be January 18-19, 2018 in Washington, DC.

This workshop initiative is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute. Workshop steering committee members and attendees will discuss issues of conducting health research on small, underrepresented population subgroups. Understanding these subpopulations is vital for scientific research and the advancement of healthcare for persons in these areas, and eliminating disparities. The workshop will address research design, possible interventions and implementation strategies related to these populations.

Proceedings of the workshop will be prepared and reviewed by the National Academies of Sciences. Presentation information will be available online after the workshop.
