Emergency physician Dr. Chris Carpenter is interested in research involving geriatric emergencies, cognitive dysfunction (dementia), evidence-based medicine and implementation science. He is also the director of evidence based medicine for the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis Division of Emergency Medicine, and the associate editor of Academic Emergency Medicine and the Annals of Internal Medicine ACP Journal Club.

He has first-authored emergency geriatric emergency department guidelines, and developed a consumer-driven Evidence-Based Diagnostics series in response to the “preventing overdiagnosis” movement. He has also worked with Washington University in St. Louis’ Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center to develop effective models of care for dementia patients, and is interested in bringing together medical experts in the areas of emergency medicine and geriatrics to develop new models for effective care.
