Heather O'Leary, MA, PhD

Dr. O’Leary is a specialist in vulnerability and human-environment interactions. She is trained as an Anthropologist and Sociologist and has a wide array of interdisciplinary experience with major contributions to collaborative knowledge networks. Her research investigates urban water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) issues in Asia and new projects include the imbrication of global health and climate change risks in coastal cities. She has served on the OECD/Global Water Partnership task force for global water security and her work has been consulted by the U.S. Embassy of India, the Water Ministry of India, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Dr. O’Leary has over a decade of engaged ethnographic fieldwork in Delhi (India), which has been funded by the Fulbright Foundation, the U.S. Department of Education, and the Wenner-Gren Foundation, among others.
