Karen Joynt Maddox’s research interests include improving the measurement of the quality and efficiency of physicians, hospitals, and health systems and understanding the impact of policy interventions on health care, with a focus on value-based and alternative payment models and their impacts on health outcomes and equity. She served from 2014-2016 as Senior Advisor in the Office of Health Policy at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and is the Associate Editor for Health Policy at the Journal of the American Medical Association
Professor Joynt Maddox has authored more than 300 publications and received multiple grants from the National Institutes of Health and other funders for her research.
