Dr. Duncan’s research focuses on substance use and psychiatric comorbidity in women with eating disorders and obesity. As a psychiatric epidemiologist with training in behavior genetics, she uses data from genetically informative samples of twins and families to examine the impact of genetic and childhood environmental risk factors for eating disorders and obesity from a developmental perspective. Childhood environmental risk factors of particular interest include parental psychopathology and child maltreatment. She also conducts research on nosology and measurement of psychiatric disorders.
