Dr. Roshal has successfully piloted  a curriculum to teach specific communication skills focused on discovering patient’s and families’ understanding and meaning of their illness, in the context of their values, in order to promote patient-centered care, to post-graduate trainees in the School of Medicine. She is now interested in seeing how this curriculum can be expanded and implemented on graduate and post-graduate levels to include cultural competencies to improve care for all patients with serious illness, but especially those with different cultural/socioeconomic/racial or other minority background.
