Cynthia E. Rogers, MD

Blanche F. Ittleson Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, School of Medicine

Cynthia Rogers’ public health focus is on how certain social determinants of health impact vulnerable populations in both clinical and research settings. Her research centers on how adverse exposures like poverty, prematurity, and prenatal substance use affect development across childhood and how psychosocial stressors may alter the brain and contribute to childhood psychiatric disorders. Rogers also directs Washington University Perinatal Behavioral Health Service which serves perinatal women with psychiatric and substance use disorders, who are historically disproportionately underserved. In 2022, National Academy of Medicine named Rogers an “Emerging Leader in Health and Medicine Scholar”.
