Professor Sepper’s research is in the area of health law. She is interested in the conflicts over morality in medicine, especially with regard to reproductive health care, as well as the relationship between morality, professional ethics and law with regard to medical conscience legislation, which allows medical providers and institutions to refuse to deliver controversial services, typically end-of-life or reproductive care.

Professor Sepper also explores religious organizations’ challenges to public health measures, most recently in the wave of lawsuits filed raising religious liberty claims against compliance with contraceptive coverage mandates under the Affordable Care Act.
