Jeffrey Q. McCune, PhD

Associate Professor, Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and African and African-American Studies, Arts & Sciences
Keywords:
Blacks or African Americans, discrimination & bias, gender identity, HIV & AIDS, infectious disease, justice

Professor McCune’s work interrogates how Black LGBTQ persons navigate sexuality, gender, and health. His interest in the impacts of HIV-criminalization and Anti-Black police violence attempts to tell a broader, dynamic story of how disease (dis-ease) is used to criminalize black people throughout society. While most of his work concerns itself with everyday experiences, he is equally interested in the representation of black life and its impact on public health and outcomes.
