Dr. Kepper’s research focuses on social, economic, and environmental conditions that shape the health of individuals and communities. She uses innovative qualitative and quantitative methods (GIS, GPS, accelerometry) to determine the importance and interplay of neighborhood social and physical environments to gauge physical activity, diet, and obesity-related outcomes from preschool to adulthood. Her goal is to document the importance of neighborhood environments and design, disseminate, and sustain interventions that overcome barriers and help reduce health disparities.
