Ms. Acayo Laker’s research and creative work is centered on using a human-centered approach to solve social problems. She collaborates across disciplines to explore communication design’s role in making complex healthcare-related information accessible to a wider audience in such developing communities as Kenya, South Sudan and Uganda. Topics range from tropical diseases to mental health-related issues. Acayo Laker also teaches a spectrum of courses that encourage students to work with local and international partners to address complex social issues.
