Proscovia Nabunya, MSW, PhD

Research Assistant Professor, Brown School of Social Work

Dr. Nabunya’s research is focused on family and community-based support systems as protective factors for the development and wellbeing of children impacted by HIV/AIDS; HIV-stigma reduction interventions; and poverty-reduction strategies that utilize asset-based interventions and their impact on the social, economic and health wellbeing of children and families in HIV-impacted communities. The goal of her research is to build evidence, develop, and test culturally-appropriate interventions in order to address risk factors associated with HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa.

Dr. Nabunya also serves as the Assistant Director of the Africa Initiative, an interdisciplinary endeavor aimed at enhancing Washington University and its impact in public health and human development programs on the African continent.
