Shannon N. Lenze, PhD

Associate Professor of Psychiatry

Dr. Shannon N. Lenze is focused on the mental health needs of women during pregnancy and postpartum. Specifically, she is interested in developing psychosocial interventions for perinatal depression that are not only effective in reducing depressive symptoms in mothers, but also in preventing adverse infant outcomes. She has found that social relationships during pregnancy are extremely important, and she is working on ways to modify intervention strategies to ameliorate this risk. A key aspect of her work is to determine how perinatal mental health interventions can be delivered to those most at risk. Dr. Lenze’s goal is to ensure more efficient dissemination of empirically supported care into the community.
