Susan E. Stiritz, PhD, MSW, MBA, MA

Professor of Practice, Brown School

Dr. Stiritz’s research and teaching focus on the intersections of culture and sexual practices, agency, subjectivity, and gender and other marginalized identities. She is a Certified Sexuality Educator and Consultant interested in the effects that sex positive, gender inclusive, culturally competent sexuality education has on various populations, including emerging adults, older adults, people with intellectual and other disabilities, and late adolescent sexual offenders and their survivors and victims. She sees sexual health as an important issue in the fight for social justice, and considers herself privileged to have work that targets sexual health disparities.

Dr. Stiritz serves as the chair of the specialization in Sexual Health and Education at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. She is also on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists; chair of AASECT’s Professional Development Steering Committee; a board member of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region; and an advocate for women’s reproductive rights.
