Global Health Seminar with Felicia Anumah & Dominic Reeds

Formerly known as Global Health Work in Progress, the Global Health Seminar Series aims to bring together members of the Washington University global health community to learn about each other’s work. The Global Health Seminar Series occurs on the second Monday of each month throughout the academic year.

In person attendance

This meeting will take place in person in room 302 of Farrell Learning & Teaching Center (FLTC). Please register to attend. Lunch will be provided for those who register as attending in person.

The Farrell Learning & Teaching Center (FLTC) is located on the WashU Medical Campus. FLTC can be accessed from Scott Avenue, off of Taylor Avenue or from Euclid Avenue, off of Barnes Jewish Hospital Plaza.

Limited metered street parking is available on Scott Avenue. Parking by the hour is available in the Metro Garage.

Public transportation options are available through Metro Transit. The MetroLink train stops in the heart of campus at the Central West End Station, and 10 Metro Bus routes provide convenient access to campus.

Featured Presentation

Dr. Anumah and Dr. Reeds will be speaking about their diabetes-related work in Nigeria and Rwanda respectively, comparing and contrasting their research.

Felicia Anumah, MD
Professor of Medicine, Endocrinology, and Diabetology, University of Abuja

Felicia Anumah is the President of Diabetic Foot Nigeria Initiative, Board member, Pan African Diabetes Foot Study Group; and Nigeria Representative, D-Foot International. Felicia Anumah has a Diabetes and Endocrine Centre, built and commissioned by the First Lady of Nigeria, DR. Mrs. Aisha Buhari, the first of its kind in Nigeria, named Prof. Felicia Anumah Diabetes and Endocrine Centre” in the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital in 2021. She is passionate about prevention of lifestyle diseases especially diabetes and hypertension, the chairperson of a non-governmental organization: Mark Anumah Medical Mission.

Dominic Reeds, MD
Professor of Medicine, Division of Geriatrics and Nutritional Science, Washington University in St. Louis

Dominic Reeds’ research activities involve the use of stable isotope tracers to study the regulation of substrate metabolism in humans in vivo. He is particularly interested in metabolic abnormalities present in patients with HIV infection, and interventions that improve insulin sensitivity. Dr. Reeds also directs the Barnes Jewish Hospital Nutrition Support Service.
