Chronic non-communicable cardiovascular disease (CVD) and CVD co-morbid conditions are responsible for high morbidity and mortality in Peru. This D43 training program, led by two U.S. institutions (Washington University in St. Louis and Johns Hopkins University) in coordination with two academic Peruvian institutions (Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima and Universidad Nacional del Altiplano de Puno) and a Peruvian NGO in Lima and Puno (AB PRISMA), will develop a comprehensive research training program with the objective of preparing the next generation of Peruvian researchers to conduct high-quality, independent research on chronic CVD across the lifespan in Peru.
