Dr. James’ research focuses on health disparities and inequities, particularly in cancer prevention and control. She collaborates across disciplines and with community health care providers and community members to co-develop research ideas, interventions, and approaches. Dr. James’ research examines how financially-strained individuals approach healthcare as well as multi-level intervention research to promote screening and follow-up for colon and lung cancer. Her intervention work is oriented toward primary care, including rural health settings and federally qualified health centers. Dr. James’ research is funded by NIH.
