Ben Cooper, MPH

Co-Director, Public Health Data and Training Center

In his role with the Public Health Data and Training Center, Ben oversees center operations and supports both academic and community public health data infrastructure in the region.

A St. Louis native, Ben has spent his entire career working with health care data across academic, nonprofit, and corporate managed care settings. As an adjunct faculty at Washington University, he developed and taught graduate-level courses on data management and statistical analysis. His unique background of information technology and nonprofit social services alongside formal training and experience in public health, statistics, and academic research allows him to think about data from a population perspective while centering social determinants of health.

When not thinking about data, Ben can often be found cooking, gardening, cycling, renovating an old house, or somewhere in nature with his hyperactive black lab, Lucy
