Professor Kao’s research focuses on vaccine-preventable infections in children. She continues to build expertise on determinants of vaccine effectiveness and is invested in the defining factors that impact vaccine effectiveness which in turn inform public health policy. She has been involved in a number of vaccine clinical trials studies on novel vaccine candidates and optimal deployment of existing vaccines. She continues her focus on defining the role of maternally-derived antibodies toward the prevention of neonatal and childhood infections.
