The majority of Professor Tyminski’s research focuses on program development and implementation within community-based mental health populations with specific emphasis on homelessness, incarceration and mental illness. Dr. Tyminski developed and currently oversees a student-run free clinic to provide occupational therapy services within a local homeless service agency. Her research interests are focused on improving health and participation outcomes among those experiencing chronic homelessness, marginalized women, and those with substance use concerns. She also advocates for the inclusion of occupational therapy services, designed to increase independent functioning, in community-based mental health agencies.
