Dr. Liang’s academic interests include trauma-related infections, orthopedic infections, clinical infectious diseases in the context of emergency care, and infection prevention and patient safety in the setting of the emergency department (ED).
His current work involves the use of large administrative databases to study the epidemiology of infections related to open fractures and cardiac devices. He is also conducting a qualitative study to better understand ED healthcare provider attitudes towards infection prevention and engaged in other studies to better understand the transmission dynamics of multidrug-resistant organisms in healthcare. Dr. Liang is also involved in several studies examining the epidemiology and medical management of sexually-transmitted infections, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections in the ED.
Dr. Liang is also a fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
