Assistant Professor of Psychiatry

Devin Banks’ scholarship, teaching, and advocacy is broadly focused on improving behavioral health equity. Her research program aims to improve racial equity in the research and treatment of substance use with a focus on Black Americans. She examines the impact of racism and racialization on the development and course of substance use and related behavioral health outcomes (e.g., sexual behaviors, trauma) at multiple levels, aiming to illuminate social determinants. She is interested in mixed quantitative and qualitative methods, often integrating technology and community engagement principles into research designs.
