Institute Faculty Scholar and obstetrician urges pregnant women to get boosted

Institute for Public Health Faculty Scholar, Ebony Carter, MD, is urging pregnant women to receive the COVID-19 booster to reduce the high risk of severe illness from the virus.

According to Washington University’s COVID-19 Update, which offers the latest area COVID-19 information for school faculty, staff and students, Carter says, “Barnes-Jewish Hospital is seeing rising numbers of pregnant people admitted to the hospital who are not yet vaccinated or boosted.”

Carter is also featured on the January 8th newscast on KSDK-TV (NBC) discussing the omicron surge (a “huge uptick” in positive cases) resulting hospitalizations and that the current low vaccination rate among pregnant women. Watch it here.
